449A0848Donna B. Amberman is a NYS Education Department Certified School Psychologist who is also licensed as a Mental Health Counselor and certified as a School District Administrator. She holds a BS degree from State University College at Oneonta, an MS in Educational Psychology and a CAS in School Psychology from the University at Albany. In addition, she completed additional coursework in educational administration at both the University at Albany and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Ms. Amberman served as an itinerant school psychologist for 30 years with Capital Region BOCES, serving rural, suburban and small urban districts. For the past 11 years, she has provided services to districts as an independent contractor, providing school psychological and CSE chair services to numerous districts. In addition, she has several years’ experience as a PPS Director, CSE and CPSE chair, and 504 accommodations coordinator. She is presently the founder and owner of Capital Region School Psychology where she provides second opinion/ Independent Educational Evaluations to parents and districts. She has extensive experience in the evaluation of school age children and adolescents, as well as evaluations of adults seeking GED accommodations. Her experience has also provided the opportunity to provide support to teachers and parents in addressing their various concerns about child learning, behaviors and emotional development. Her expertise allows her to provide both parents and teachers with very specific information and insight into the individual child, as well as to provide helpful, useful and understandable suggestions for assisting the child. She consistently collaborates with teachers, parents and other service providers to assure a well integrated and comprehensive assessment of children. Ms. Amberman is knowledgeable about transition services and needs for those moving out of high school and includes the appropriate language in evaluations to assist students and families in accessing adult services.

Ms. Amberman is the mother of two adult daughters and has four grandchildren, ages 16 months to 12 years. She enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with her family and again renovating her Victorian home.
